Godfrey et al.'s recent paper [1] and the accompanying editorial [2] cast significant doubt upon the scientific rigour of including intra-operative fluid management as a Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) pre-qualincation goal for the 2013/14 financial year.
