Phonetic constraints of Japanese and English emotional expressions in children: acoustic analysis of /pikachu/ in Japanese and English

Phonetic constraints of Japanese and English emotional expressions in preschoolers and children were examined acoustically. The results showed that language-specific characteristics can be seen in the neutral expressions. In their emotional expressions, similar tendencies were found in terms of F0 peak transitions and syllable durations. However, the rate of devoicing for a high vowel and changes in syllable duration were emotion specific, depending on the native language.
