Kiwi feedlot faces unique management challenges

IT IS run like any Australian professional feedlot but in the south island of New Zealand, Five Star Beef Ltd has a unique set of management challenges. Situated on the Canterbury Plain coast with the South Pacific Ocean as neighbour, Five Star BeefLtd is NZ's only commercial feedlot and is also a member of ALFA. The 15,000-heàd capacity lot with a 28,000-head annual throughput is jointly owned by the ANZCO and Itoham Foods Inc of Japan.
