Role of natural resources extension in maintaining and reinstating of rangeland (case study of Zarandiyeh, Iran).

According to the economic, social and environmental importance and increasing devastation of rangelands, maintaining and reinstating them has become very important. This study aims to evaluating the role of natural resources extension in attracting pasture owners to participate in maintaining and reinstating the ranges of Zarandiyeh City during 2010. The statistical population is all of the rangeland owners who based on Cochran formula, 161 persons were selected by simple random sampling method. The dependent variable of the study is the participation of the rangeland owners in maintaining and reinstating the ranges. Findings showed that most of the rangeland owners stated the extension effect on the improvement of their knowledge and skill is high. Also, attendance in the extensional-educational courses, increasing knowledge, extensional-educational speeches and contact with the local leaders determined about 39 percent of the rangeland owners participation.
