The experimental results of angle-frequency dependencies and the -1st spatial harmonic radiation constant frequency dependencies are given for the case of the surface wave transformation to the spatial waves by means of the metal comb and non-coordinate profile gratings covered by a dielectric layer. It is shown, that the groove resonances in multilayer metal-dielectric diffraction periodic structures can give important qualitative variations of flat antenna dispersion characteristics in centimeter and millimeter wavelength bands. The classification of planar diffraction UHF-band antenna dispersion characteristics is offered. Recommendations for the use of coordinate and non-coordinate gratings in flat antennas and scatter coverings operating at a frequency band up to 14.5% are given.
