If you are one of those whose world is built on simplistic stereotypes, you may hardly believe that one of Europe's most advanced, large capacity aluminium rolling mills is located just outside the southern Italian town of Caserta: its name is Laminazione Sottile SpA; what is more it is a private, family-run business. Guido Moschini, the mechanical engineer who founded Laminazione Sottile and is now its president born in 1921, tells us, "To be an entrepreneur in southern Italy means having to cope with inadequate infrastructures every day and insufficient connections in general. But we shall continue growing here, investing in training our staff and in creating state-of-the-art facilities, in order to ensure that our products are always better quality and capable of competing at world level. Though it is far from easy".
