The care of our roses during the summer can be almost as challenging as the pre-winter care in late fall that helps our roses see another season of flowering enjoyment. But now can be an excellent time to share our roses and to consider the well beingof your roses and you, your family and your friends. In the late spring to early summer months, roses seem to enjoy coming out of their winter dormancy because the gradual change from cool and often damp weather of early spring to the warmer and sunnierdays of early summer. Regular feeding and watering, and a good spraying routine for potential fungus type diseases, should result in a nice showing of blooms that we can enjoy in our gardens and share with others. One of the primary methods of sharing of our roses in the late spring (early to mid-spring in some of our more southern states) is exhibiting our roses at rose shows. Although the latter is a competition for some, it is also a good way of sharing the beauty and quality of roses with both members and the general public who may attend rose shows.
