摘要

A high capacity lithium-ion polymer battery (LIP) with a multifunctional separator has been developed. It uses new technologies for its high capacity, such as a thin separator and a high density LiCoO{sub}2 cathode electrode in particular. It was demonstrated that the lithium-ion polymer battery, L1P383562A, has high rate capability and long cycle life more than 400 cycles. Particularly, it can maintain the capacity and the cell thickness in high temperature (90°C) storage because of using PC based electrolyte. As a result, this lithium-ion polymer battery shows flexibility in battery size and a high energy density beyond 360Wh/l and 180Wh/kg, which is the level of the present lithium-ion battery (LIB).
