Syntheses of 2-Aroyl 3-Aryl Benzofuran and Benzothiophenes

摘要

A novel method has been developed for the synthesis of 6-methoxy 2-aroyl 3-aryl benzofuran and benzothiophenes from 2-(3-Methoxy-phenoxy or thioxy)-1-phenyl-ethanone and substituted benzoyl chloride through Friedel-Crafts benzoylation and cyclization reaction. The method accepts a variety of functional groups on the benzoyl chloride.
