Tullow Oil has relaunched its exploration campaign in Kenya with the first of two wells drilling ahead and has farmed down acreage where the second will be spudded. The company has had a series of disappointing results in its recent attempts to find hydrocarbons in basins neighbouring its successful South Lokichar basin. It is has not given up and has even added an extra exploration well despite budget constraints and is using the Marriot 46 rig to drill the Emesek well, which will test the undrilled North Lokichar basin. The well was spudded on 15 October.
