Nigeria to slash contract award time

Nigeria aims to cut the bidding process for field developments from the current average period of between two and four years to just six months. A spokesman for Petroleum Minister Ibe Kachikwu blamed the long contracting cycle for part of Nigeria's high development costs and said contract approval bodies are already implementing a new strategy to develop a single contracting procedure for the industry.
