Effect of miR-20 on Apoptosis of Ovarian Cancer Cells by Regulating TIMP-2 Pathway

Objective: miRNAs are involved in regulating cellular physiology ranging from tumor cells proliferation to apoptosis. miR-20 regulates tumorigenesis through regulating cell apoptosis. This study intends to assess miR-20's effectonovarian cancer cells. Methods: Hey cells were cultured in DMEM medium. Western blotting was conducted to measure bcl-2, bax, and TIMP2 expression. Cell apoptosis was measured using Annexin V-FITC. Results: miR-20 significantly induced of Hey cells and downregulated bcl-2. miR-20 significantly inhibited the TIMP2 signaling pathway. Meanwhile, miR-20 increased the protein expression of TIMP2. Simultaneously, miR-20 could regulate the proliferation of Hey cells. Conclusion: miR-20 induces apoptosis and promotes proliferation of ovarian cancer cells, indicating that targeting miR-20 might be a novel therapeutic method for treating ovarian cancer.
