Authentication and Identification of Hungarian Wines

Novel NMR Technology solution enables precise measurements of Hungarian wine, to develop a new wine map of origin.Vine growing and winemaking has represented an integral part of Hungarian culture for hundreds of years. Hungary is divided into 22 wine regions - and often into seven broader regions - one of which being the north-east region of Tokaj. Tokaji is perhapsthe most well-known Hungarian wine, famous for the sweet taste coming from harvesting grapes affected by noble rot. Wines of considerable value are produced in Hungary, and therefore, protection of the investment and value of the country's wine industrythrough generating a wine map is of great importance.The prevalence of wine fraud has spurred the rise in innovative authenticity and identification tools across the globe. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) has been used in wine screening across western Europe for some time, but Hungary is the first countryto adopt this technique in eastern Europe. Now with this powerful technology, precise measurements of thousands of wines can provide customers and producers with confidence and trust in the origin and content of their wine.
