Global Demand Trends: Rebound in Developing Countries

Developing countries took over the lead to propel gains in global jet fuel consumption early this year. Demand in a representative group jumped by nearly 8% in January, after inching up by just 1% in fourth-quarter 2017. South Korea was the star performer with a 17.5% gain spurred in part by the Winter Olympic Games. Mexican demand growth picked up momentum with a 9% rise while Brazilian usage climbed by more than 6%.
