Trane Acquired by Ingersoll-Rand - USD 10.1 Billion Acquisition Creates Climate Control Giant

Just weeks after selling off its kitchen and bath business and changing its name to reflect its most prominent brand, Trane Inc., formerly American Standard Companies Inc., agreed to be acquired by Ingersoll - Rand Co. Ltd. on December 17, 2007. On the same day, Ingersoll-Rand, which makes Thermo King refrigerated trucks and Hussmann refrigerated display cases, announced that it has executed a definitive agreement to acquire Trane Inc. in a transaction valued at approximately USD10.1 billion, including transaction fees and the assumption of approximately USD150 million of Trane net debt.
