Understanding metacognition: concepts supporting employee learning and growth

摘要

In human resource management in business and in other organizations, a subject that has not received much attention is metacognition: the individual's awareness of and responses to her/his own learning processes and change. Metacognition is supported by a large body of research, and it would benefit human resource practitioners and managers to learn more about the topic owing to its bearing on employee learning, growth and success. Recent study (Lyons and Bandura, 2018) has reported how employee performance and metacognition are positively related, thus demonstrating the importance of employee learning effectiveness.
