You know, those Beatrix Potter drawings of towering foxgloves, and Barbara Cooney's abundant drifts of lupines taller than a child's head. As a young gardener, I wanted to recreate the sense of immersion and abundance those illustrations give. Unfortunately, neither delphiniums nor lupines grow large or abundantly in the lower Ozarks.
