The UK has now left the EU and entered into the transition period. During the transition period the UK and EU will negotiate what kind of trading relationship and other forms of co-operation there will be in place from 1 January 2021.Maximum residue levels (MRLs) for pesticide residues in or on food and feed of plant and animal origin are established under Regulation (EC) No 396/2005. During the transition period, all UK authorisations must comply with the MRLs in force in the EU. Inparticular, the ongoing MRL review programme may result in MRLs being lowered which impact on uses of plant protection products currently authorised. The progress of the MRL review programme including the schedule of upcoming reviews is available on the European Food Safety Authority website.
