Motivation? Meh...

In Torben Kj?rsgaard's essay (2015) on the ethics of taking motivation enhancers, one of his conclusions is that it is morally illicit to use motivation enhancers to achieve particular tasks if a lack of motivation is symptomatic of a person's sense of alienation. I briefly argue that if a sense of alienation is inevitable in certain important facets of the majority of people's lives (e.g., work lives), then it is morally permissible to take motivation enhancers to dull one's sense of alienation.
