BIZ: Trial TECH: Electric Drive: ASKO puts hydrogen fuel cell electric Scania trucks into service

Norway/Sweden/Canada - Norwegian grocery distributor, ASKO AS of Oslo (a subsidiary of NorgesGruppen ASA) last month began pilot operation of four Scania hydrogen fuel cell 26+1 tonnes gross vehicle weight (gvw) trucks with an electric driveline. ASKO has also opened a hydrogen gas station in Trondheim. These are the first commercial application of fuel cells in Scania trucks. The fuel cell units are supplied by Hydrogenics Corporation of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, which recently became a subsidiary of Cummins Inc.
