MKT: Statistics-Bus: Bus market bucks CV trend with growth of 1.65% in 2019-20

India-Bus domestic sales (>7.5t gvw) in the fiscal year 2019-20 bucked the CV severely downward trend by recording growth of 1.65% to register 40,257 units, up from 39,604 units registered in the previous year (2018-19). While total bus production fell by 6.4% to 42,594 units in 2019-20 from 45,506 units in the previous year, total bus exports increased by 12.17% to 9,294 units from 8,286 units. Domestic sales of medium-duty buses (ICV: 7.5 tonnes-12 tonnes) decreased by 11.04% from 18,978 units in the previous year to 16,883 units in FY 2019/20. While exports sales increased 13.55% to 3,587 units (3,159), output contracted by 14.38% to 17,465 units from 20,399 units. All manufacturers suffered a decrease in sales in this segment.
