As a consequence of last year's judgment in the Superior Court of California, three former lead paint manufacturers - ConAgra Brands, NL Industries and Sherwin-Williams - must contribute to a $US 409 million fund for the remediation of residential properties in various parts of the state. This was the final outcome of a case initiated by the Santa Clara County government in 2001. The three companies acknowledged that they had reached the end of the road in fighting the case when the Supreme Court of the United States (Scotus) announced in mid-October 2018 that it had refused to review Judge James Kleinberg's verdict in the California Superior Court.
