Soil and groundwater BTEX contamination was caused by the production of synthetic colours at a paint manufacturing facility that operated continuously for 80 years. The estimated volume of BTEX in soil and groundwater was 35 tons while BTEX concentrations in groundwater reach hundreds mg.l-1. BTEX contamination plume corresponds to the sources of pollution and is affected by local hydrogeological conditions (depression of Neogene clay sediments filled up by more permeable Pleistocene alluvial sand).
