A Study of the Strategic Alliance for Vietnam Domestic Pharmaceutical Industry: A Dynamic Integration of A Hybrid DEA and GM (1,1) Approach

Recently, Vietnamese pharmaceutical industry has gained successful development. However, some scandals relating to fake medicines and wrong distribution channel continue arising. Thus, there is a need to have better management of these companies, one of which is to form alliance and partnership because this is trend can help them achieve higher profitability, fighting competition and nourishing fairness in the market. This study tries to establish evaluation from their past performance by using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), and then Grey Forecasting Model GM(1,1) approach is applied to forecast their businesses in the near future. The main purpose of this study is to generate a useful methodology for businesses to reach the precise strategic alliances. The study has investigated 13 enterprises in Vietnam Domestic Pharmaceutical Industry by using practical data collected from financial document of Vietnam Stock market throughout 2012 to 2016. After doing analysis and integrating models in light of the research objectives, the study find out that the businesses, which have low-mid capableness, may have more advantages than companies with high capableness after they form partnership. Moreover, this research guides the companies in becoming better in term of productivity. The study and its findings are is especially beneficial for both corporate heads and academics.
