Hyman (1992) gave Thanatophilus dispar (Herbst) Endangered status and mentioned old records and one recent one from Loch Leven. Since then T. dispar has been recorded at Loch Leven by Sullivan (1994), Eyre (2004), and MacGowan (2011). In Scotland it is also known from North and South Uist in the Outer Hebrides (Sullivan, 1995; 1998). In Ireland there are recent records from a number of sites (Regan & Moran, 2005).
