Approximately 1.9 mn tons of coal coke was produced in Ukraine in May 2004 that by almost 3 percent (by 58 ths. tons) exceeded the index of April. Production of coal coke in May 2004 has augmented by more than 8 percent (by 144 ths. tons) versus the same figure of the last year. Roughly 273 ths. tons of coal coke for the total amount of about USD 72 mn was exported in the period under review. Outward deliveries of this output curtailed by approximately 18 percent against the index of April 2004. Average price herewith increased by approximately USD/MT 112. Export of coke expanded by approximately 19 percent versus May 2003 with the average price constituting approximately USD/MT 265 against USD/MT 76 over the corresponding period of the last year. Tentatively 57 ths. tons of coal coke for the total amount reaching USD 16 mn was delivered to Ukraine according to preliminary results of May 2004. Shipments of this output curtailed by roughly 1.6 times with average price augmented by around USD/MT 44. Volumes of import coal coke delivery to Ukraine diminished by approximately 50 percent if compared with figures of April 2004 and with average prices augmenting from USD/MT 95 to USD/MT 274.
