Effective management of foot rot in basmati rice

Foot rot of disease has become a serious threat in the successful cultivation of basmati rice. Seed as well as seedlings treatment must be adopted to manage this disease.Basmati rice is one of the most important kharif crop in the state of Punjab. Dueto liberalized export policies and high premium price in the national as well as international market, area under basmati rice cultivation has increased during the recent years. India is the leading exporter of the basmati rice to the global market. Ithas exported about 44.15 lakh tonnes of basmati rice during the last season of 2019. In Punjab, the area under basmati rice cultivation was 5.47 lakh hectares with total production of about 19.64 lakh tonnes during 2019.
