Market regaining post-CNY traction

At the time of writing the iron ore markethad yet to pick up traction after the longLunar New Year holiday break. Normally,there is a rebound in prices once the marketreturns but most participants expectedany price increases to be gradual. Much willdepend, of course, on how steel futuresand physical steel prices react in the nextfew weeks. The S&P Global Platts ChinaSteel Sentiment Index, conducted in earlyFebruary, was more positive than usualahead of Chinese New Year as demand andprices were tipped to improve after thewinter output curbs are lifted in mid-March.
