New gathering system, joint venture expansion keeps texas midstream sector humming

Midstream activity is heating up in texas shale plays as the first phase of a new gathering system serving oil and natural gas producers in the Permian Basin started up May 24 and a joint venture involving targa resources expanded its operations in the eagle Ford. Higher commodity prices and increasing demand for exports are driving operators to boost their footprints in the region, a hub for flows to the petrochemical industry, liquefaction facilities and pipelines to Mexico.
