摘要

AbstractFor many centuries,Lonicera japonicahas been used as an effective herb for the treatment of inflammation and swelling because of the presence of bioactive components such as chlorogenic acid (CGA). To clarify the relationship betweenL. japonica hydroxycinnamoyl CoA quinate hydroxycinnamoyl transferase(HQT) gene expression and CGA content, anHQTeukaryotic expression system was constructed using Gateway cloning.L. japonicacallus transformed with HQT was obtained usingAgrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation. We found a positive correlation between CGA content, determined by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and the expression of HQT, analyzed by semi-quantitative RT-PCR. This study demonstrates that the HQT gene positively regulates CGA synthesis and lays the foundation for further study into enhancing efficacious components of medicinal plants.Highlights?HQT-silencing and -overexpression vectors were successfully transferred intoL. japonica.?
