Disclosed is a transgenic plant comprising a selected DNA, wherein the selected DNA down regulates the lignin biosynthesis gene hydroxycinnamoyl transferase (HCT), said selected DNA comprising at least 18 contiguous nucleotides of the HCT gene or its complement, and wherein said plant is a legume.
