The economy appears to be picking up steam as the fourth quarter slowdown is now well behind us. Factors accounting for the improving outlook include fewer political headwinds [down from very strong to moderately strong headwinds), continued corporate profit gains, improvements in productivity, stable interest rates, a stronger hand in China negotiations and continued strength in capital investments.
