An integrated programme of protection against downy mildew: trials in the Bordeaux region in 2001.

In compliance with the common benchmarks for environment-friendly good practices drawn up by OILB and adopted at a national level by the ITV, a list of specifications for integrated viticulture has been drawn up with the support of four companies working in the field of agro-pharmaceuticals. The specifications are to undergo technical and economic validation over a period of several years, in five "reference" vineyards of the Bordeaux region in France. In 2001, a study was carried out in the AOC Bordeaux vineyard of Chateau Lestrille to assess different strategies for the integrated management of grapevine downy mildew [Plasmopara viticola] using the tools and decision-making rules contained in the specifications, highlighting the possibility of protecting grapevines with three fungicide applications. The article describes the main events of the season, the decisions taken in relation to the different events, and the results of trials.
