Norwegian frms manoeuvre ahead of Sverdrup start-up

Norway’s oil sector is undergoing changes in ownership ahead of the start-up of the massive Johan Sverdrup oil feld in the North Sea. Operator state-controlled Equinor plans to reduce its stake in Swedish upstream independent Lundin Petroleum and acquire part of Lundin’s interest in the feld. The deal involves Lundin redeeming 16pc of its shares held by Equinor for $1.56bn, and Equinor buying 2.6pc of Johan Sverdrup from Lundin for $910mn.
