In the; previous article, "Part 1: An Integrated Approach to Extract Crystallization", the discussion centered on the production of an extract derived '"raw" sugar as the final step in the molasses separation process. In the operation described, concentrated extract produced from molasses separation is immediately crystallized into a "raw" sugar intermediate product instead of being sent to storage to be crystallized at a later date. The extract "raw" sugar is produced in a single crystallization step, continuously melted into thick juice and then co-processed with thick juice into white sugar.
