Last month we wrote a column focusing on the importance of incorporating content-area literacy strategies into your science instruction. We emphasized that students who were engaged when reading retained more information. In other words, if students aren't invested in what they read, they won't remember it. That certainly won't help them do well on your assessments or statewide tests.
