Passively Q-switched ytterbium-doped fiber laser with ReSe2 saturable absorber

We achieved passively Q-switched ytterbium-doped (Yb3+-doped) fiber laser based on ReSe2 saturable absorber (SA) with mechanical exfoliation method. In addition, we obtained the Q-switched pulse generation with a repetition rate in the range of 31.6-68.7 kHz and a pulse duration in the range of 3.77-2.87 mu s when the pump power increased from 50 mW to 100 mW. The corresponding single pulse energy varied from 49.72 nJ to 81.62 nJ. As a result of ReSe2 excellent saturable absorption property, it can be used as an effective SA for ultrafast fiber lasers.
