More diesel continues to ship into the Atlantic Basin from Asia,even as diesel crack spreads in Europe and the US rise.To a degree,the trend is opportunistic-much of the diesel being shipped into the Atlantic Basin is coming on newbuild very large crude carriers(VLCCs)that can load clean products on their maiden voyages.Why not ship product to diesel-short Europe on the way to pick up crude oil in the Atlantic Basin? But another factor is at play: the market has been waiting for signs of positioning ahead of new rules lowering fuel oil in marine fuels,and that is triggering higher diesel demand.
