If the United States adopts a nationwide low-carbon fuel standard (LCFS), U.S. imports of oilsands crude would shrink, but overall global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions would increase by up to 19 million metric tons each year, according to a study commissioned by the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association (NPRA).
