The Alberta government continued to reduce its "fair share" of royalty revenue on March 3, announcing a three-pronged stimulus plan potentially worth up to $1.5 billion in an effort to jump-start drilling activity in the demoralized western oil-patch. In Calgary, Energy Minister Mel Knight said the program includes a royalty credit per metre of well drilled and a maximum five per cent royalty rate for new conventional wells drilled.
