Prof. Graham Mulley's reflections of editing the journal.

Age and Ageing was already well established as a flagship for the British Geriatrics Society, and also as an internationally important journal for medicine in the elderly, when I took over as Editor in 2002. Previous Editors, including Graham Mulley who was my immediate predecessor, and their teams were responsible for this and I was fortunate to have such a sound foundation to work on. I was also very lucky to have some wonderful people to work with, both in our local journal office, initially at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol and then near the Bristol waterside when we outgrew the original office. Colleagues at Oxford University Press (OUP), especially Mandy Hill, were also very supportive, especially when we decided to 'go electronic' with Manuscript Central, moving away from a paper and floppy disc-based system.
