Industry Preps for TS Cristobal's Louisiana Landfall

Production platforms, refineries and petrochemical facilities from Baton Rouge to New Orleans were preparing for a multiday rain event caused by Tropical Storm (TS) Cristobal, which was scheduled to make landfall early Monday on the Louisiana coast. Although a tropical storm has wind speeds well below the hurricane threshold of 74 mph, TS Cristobal did manage to force Royal Dutch Shell, Murphy Oil, BP, Equinor and Occidental Petroleum to move nonessential workers from their platforms as a precaution. Shell, Murphy, Equinor, Oxy and BHP said oil and gas production has not been affected in advance of the storm.
