In the paper, application of the slot-shaped nozzles in the air gauges for the roundness assess-ment is discussed. Novel analysis consisted of manufacturing the slot-shaped nozzles with the outlet surfaces equal to the circular measuring nozzles. This way it became possible to perform direct comparison of the air gauges with nozzles of two kinds. Both static performance tests and dynamic calibrations were made using dedicated laboratory equipment. Next, the physical models of air gauges were tested in single-trace roundness measurement, and the results were compared with the reference data obtained by stylus method. The experimental results demonstrated almost negligible relative error between the result obtained with slot-shaped air gauge roundness measurement and that from a tactile formtester.
