NO PROGRESS WITH GHG EMISSION REDUCTION IN TRANSPORT IN 2019 GERMANY

Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from transport in 2019 amounted to 163.5 mln tonnes of CO2 equivalent in 2019, up 0.7% from 2018 and slightly below from 1990, the basis year for the 2020 and 2030 reduction targets, the Federal Environmental Ministry (BMU) cited official data (UBA) as saying. In 2018, around 94% of the GHG emissions (mainly CO2) came from road transport (59% from passenger cars and 35% from trucks).
