Cleveland Institution of Engineers visit Middlesbrough College's new STEM Centre

Teesside has a long history of training apprentices for the steel, petrochemical oil and gas industries, and in the past this was done by the companies themselves. However, with the fall in employee numbers, and the fragmentation of national companies, this has now been taken up by the education sector. Middlesbrough College was formed by the amalgamation of four other colleges, and occupies previous dockside space on the south bank of the Tees. 18 months ago, a new STEM centre was opened, with input from local industries as to what facilities were required.
