The Grating Light Valve (GLV) is a "micro-projector" that uses an electric field to control adjustable microbeams. These parallel microbeams will move up and down in response to the applied electric field. Other technologies that are similar to GLV include digital light processing (DLP) and liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS). However, it is reported that display systems made from GLV technology could achieve higher contrast ratio, resolution, and brightness.
