Spenner GmbH & Co. KG has erected a new multi-compartment silo to store different cement products at its Erwitte plant in North Rhine Westphalia, Germany. The outer diameter of the silo is 20.7m and it is 62.35m high. The circular cross section is a ring silo with the annular compartment divided into five cells, each of which has a volume of 1770m3, with one inner silo cell of 1500m3. The structural design of the silo is arranged so that each cell can be filled and emptied entirely independently of the others. The cone was built with the use of prefabricated reinforced concrete segments supplemented with in-situ concrete.
