Poland's blueberries, a great source of optimism for the country in recent years, continued to deliver in 2018 both domestically and oversea^with greater exposure on the local market in particular helping grow the fruit's consumer base."This season our premium blueberries, calibrated above 18mm and packed in shakers, were introduced to Lidi Poland," explains Dominika Kozarzewska of Polskie Jagody and the Polish Berry Cooperative. "The product itself, our growers and blueberry fields were featured in Lidl's television commercials. Even though the premium blueberries were significantly more expensive than standard ones, the sales volume exceeded all expectations." These premium I8mm+ berries, precooled within 30 minutes if picking to lock in the freshness and flavour, have been highly successful in Poland, she confirms - made possible because of a consistently high quality throughout the season.
