After keeping a low profile following the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in October 2018, Saudi Arabia's young Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, also known as MBS, is back in the limelight again after a slate of brash decision-making that's seen him take the kingdom into a price war with Russia — and make another round of arrests of senior princes. So far, there are no signs of public unrest inside the kingdom. But there is a growing uneasiness about how badly the public will be affected by budget cuts anticipated amid the oil price crash, along with tighter restrictions on movement partly related to the spread of the Coronavirus, including in the kingdom's mostly Shiite Eastern Province, already closely monitored.
