ILSAC GF-5 Licensing Update

API's Lubricants Committee has approved an important change to the API Engine Oil Licensing and Certification System (EOLCS). This change results from the committee's adoption of ILSAC GF-5, the latest performance specification for gasoline engine oils set by the International Lubricant Standardization and Approval Committee (ILSAC). This new specification, when compared to ILSAC GF-4, is intended to provide better engine protection, increase fuel efficiency and increase emissions system protection.
